Three categories, that's all we need. Music, Not-Music, and Not-Not-Music.

I'd like to have less forums

In terms of the subcatagories of discussion, I agree wholeheartedly.

I do think a "gear for sale" forum should be it's own forum though, if Jeff is interested.

I'm open to whatever forum layout you guys want .. doesn't take but a few minutes to re-arrange them.

Can I suggest that we need a *main* area again...a general discussion.  I'm visiting a little more often and have no idea where I should be going when I first get here.  Things just seem disjointed and spread about over 20 different subcategories.

Yeah, I think it's time to re-assess the categories.
Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.

I usually start with "what's on your mind". It's the 'general discussion' area.

My 2 cents:

Forum FAQ and secret as is - limited to Forum announcements and access type stuff - should probably not be very active - more info than comments.

Media:

  • Music (includes youtube posts, discussions on music in general, the industry, etc.)
  • TV and Film (includes photography) both amateur and professional
Songs: (Maybe move this as a subforum to Music?)

  • Your Tunes
  • Practice and theory (all DAW technique, tech discussions, music theory, guitar setup, where to get tubes, why to get tubes, what is this chord anyway, etc. (Maybe combine this with Music?)
Life:

  • What's up?
  • Sports (includes fitness)
Formula 1:

  • Tech
  • Rules
  • Politics and controversy
  • McLaren
  • Mercedes
  • Ferrari
  • etc. :)

So that would be two music forums, then.
