Was anyone else experiencing some SERIOUSLY slow load times up until a little while ago?
I though Avast was freezing me out, and turned it off.
The iPower mySQL server has serious load-balancing issues (which is hosting
this site). Every time I go to complain, the slowness goes away :-) ..
But, I'll keep working on them until they either fix it, or move me to a less
loaded SQL server.
So, I don't think it's you....
jeff
Oh, good... thanks. I didn't remember being stoned.
I'm seeing about a minute response times right now between click and new screen update.
It is definitely variable.
Now it's crazy fast. Go figure. :)
I complained again ... garr! Maybe the fixed it .. but it is intermittent.
jeff
I was thinking it was Firefox...because I kept switching to emulation or IE8 and the pages would zing through.
Jumping now... sluggish earlier.

Dont' think so .. I had a similar problem with iPower's SQL server and they restarted
it .. that's the problem with shared servers .. all it takes is one rogue or pig SQL
client and it drags the whole thing down.
I have a dedicated server that I may move this to if it becomes chronic....
jeff
Well, the sluggishness has hit me too.
All started out ok but gone back to dial up speed...... doh!
Go get 'em Jeff!!!
We went through this with The Other Place. I bitched quite a bit till they moved me.
7:47 Pacific time.
Stupid slow.

I just spent an hour on the phone with them ... they've tweaked some parameters
and think it should be better.
There's another bit they have to do with the SQL server .. and then they promise it
will be *much* better.
I hope that's the case.
jeff
Much quicker (in the UK) this morning, pages not 'hanging' at all.

I haven't quite hit crazy fast yet ... but I've been experiencing the slow ...
Regardless, Jeff M., you are *da man* for hosting this one!!! And it feels so comfy that it's the same SMF interface! (All I'm missing are the smileys that TOP had. ;) )
Yeah, I've been seeing really slow response times on and off.
Seems faster in Uk now Jeff, will let you know if it goes slow again :)
Cheers

seems like it's been pretty good all day long here too. I think they've got it
fixed...
jeff
Working great for me recently too.
Horrible right now.
Almost a minute between clicking and going somewhere.
Twice it couldn't even connect.

7:29pm PDT .. it all of a sudden got better. They say they know about the load
balancing issue .. but this just plain crazy....
I'll keep bitching until they fix it. Sorry guys.
jeff
Like others, intermittent slowness here tonight.
Where are the servers (west coast, east coast, etc.)?
(EDIT: must be east coast)

Don't apologize, Jeff... I'm sure that all of us appreciate the effort! :)

Too slow to be usable.
Then OK.
Then not.
Comes and goes.
I called to complain again.
They had closed the support ticket because
the tech didn't experience the problem.
They're killin' me!
Jeff
Currently acceptable. 10:11 Pacific
edit:
Then posting this reply took forever and just seemed to hang.

Yep, it seems like an intermittent thing. Sometimes it's absolutely fine and other times it's about a min between clicks for me.
i'm complaining again...

Word to the wise:
If this is not a business site, you might get an "upgrade for guaranteed uptime" pitch.

it's the mySQL server that they have us one. It is extremely erratic. I am pleading that
they move us off to another one that isn't quite as slammed.
jeff
Not bad now. Was very slow earlier today, 9/21/09.
very slow again.
Been okay for me as of late.

Yup .. it got sluggish again for me too...
jeff
Putting things in perspective, it was a good three to four weeks before TOP stabilized. It's intermittently slow, yes-- but it'll get better.
