So .. what's this forum all about anyway?
The idea behind this forum is to be a "birds of a feather" for people
who love music, film, and television .. with a major emphasis on music.
Particularly those who create or dabble in one of the above art forms.
This forum is intended to be positive and affirming .. helping people
out when they need help or offering constructive criticism when needed.
As well as pointing things out that are interesting, fun, creative, maybe disturbing ..
but mostly, good art, good music. Occasionally funny I suppose as well.
What this forum is *not*
This forum is not to debate endlessly or to be rude to one another. It is
a place for civil and thought provoking discussion.
To That End
Have fun .. be "net kharma positive"
jeff
Thanks Jeff.

BTW: Love the new look! ;)

I expect it to be considerably quieter .. especially since it's about 4 hours
old ;-)
And, yes, I went way out on a limb with the look-and-feel .. alien, shocking I know ;-)
Thanks to the other Jeff for turning me on to the new version of SMF

Jeff -- if you need help with spammers again--or anything else regarding SMF, let me know.
Who's allowed to invite new members?
Dunno-- Ed asked me, and I was glad that there was an alternative to L6.

Same here. I guess I'll shut up for now about this place. :)
Hey - I know you guys!
Talking with Jeff, the idea was to kick it off by word of mouth, so I sent a note off to folks that had expressed concerns about the alternatives. And it should extend out from here; that you can invite others that would contribute in a positive way.

I will be honest here - I posted over in Level 6 where Rick hangs. I thought I was just being narrow minded and tried to listen to his point of view.
At this point I think the man is really...well no need to go into it...it's just better that I no longer contribute. I'm a better person for it.
I'm thinking that it would be best if we treated that situation the same way we treated the Gubie thing.
You guys...ya waited till I went to bed dincha! This place looks comfortable, thanks Jeff! :)

discuss music and media in constructive and enlightening ways. They would be considered

hi guys and thanks for the invite, i was not looking forward to Facebook being the only means of contact with people.
Is it ok if i get temporarily confused with a different Jeff as an administrator?
Hey Greta,
Welcome. I've proposed letting Jeff be "Jeff" .. it just feels better that way ;-)
I can't type his alter name....

I spoke to him on the phone yesterday... I don't think he'll be too keen... he's got a lot going on right now.
What about people you would have invited to TOP had the tone been more like the "old days"? I've got a buddy whom I think would be a great addition...but not sure if that's cool.
Let me know--if it's still guarded at this point that's totally cool

No that's fine .. now that the switchover to Level6 is done, you may invite whomever
you wish.
I didn't want to de-rail or de-focus the transition to Jim's site.

Don't get on with L6 at all.
I've just been on tour with KajaGooGoo, so I missed all the fun - Thanks to Jeff M for making this happen.
All the best

Where was it kajagogoo played around here... it was definetly some place real sh.tty that i was suprised they would have to play....
Not sure the full story but my drummer in isabelle was the original drummer for that band...dont know the full story as to why he left - wasn't talent related is all i know.
Steve, you're too shy
Here's a MonJour tidbit. Had our fretless bass player play the bass hook to replace the original synth because it sounded too much like "Too Shy". ;)

"Try a little harder"
Ha! ;D thought that'd elicit a few comments!
Pilfa:
"The Goo" played Aylesbury market square a couple of months back, with a dire PA. Dunno about any others.
Doing the Stables in Wavendon, 16th December.
re: drummer, - They were originally called Art Nouveaux - maybe something to do with that, as Jez Strode was in at the start of Kaj, I think. Doesn't Beggs live near you? Plantation Rd?
Paul:
Yeah, yeah. under a bushel, me! :) Move a little Closer!
Seriously though, it's been an interesting tour. All the original fans are now 40ish, freshly divorced and going for it, and I don't know where to look sometimes. The band are very tight, and deserve bigger audiences than we had - about 700 in London.
I notice everyone still remembers it, after 27 years....
Great fun!

I over heard the conversation about our drummer doing something with them.... basically something came up that stopped him going which he obviously always regretted but never let get him down. I will try and find out what the deal was.
nick beggs lives just up a few doors from my folks - not that close to me i live in the tatty part of town... Did anything come of that offer they did about buying their album in advance to pay for them to go into the studio?
I feel this thread has now been inadvertantly hijacked, so apologies.
Maybe we could reassign?
I have been working mainly on the live (FOH) side, and they also come to our place for rehearsals when we're not otherwise busy. Most of the recording side has been bedroom stuff, as they are (and were) largely electronic. AFAIK there was no fan-finance deal.
Are you thinking of Marillion, who made a massive success of this model?
